Holiday cocktails are great and all, but when it’s cold outside, don’t you just want to curl up with a hot drink? Whether you want to relax by the fire and watch your favorite Christmas movie, or serve a cheerful drink at your next holiday party, mulled wine is a great, easy option…especially this recipe made in a slow cooker!
Many mulled wine recipes call for sugar or honey, and I really didn’t like the idea of either. If you’re like me and love the bold, dry taste of a good cabernet, you probably don’t want a sweet wine drink either.
This recipe doesn’t have any extra sweetener added, so it’s a great low carb option from other holiday drinks…and, like I said before, it’s super easy to make!
Prep: 3 minutes | Cook: 2 hours | Servings: 10
- 2 bottles cabernet sauvignon
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 5 star anise
- 2 oranges, sliced into rounds
- 15 whole cloves
- Place all ingredients in slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 2 hours.
I opted for inexpensive wine for this recipe, which made each drink come out to be about $3.50 each.
